Controlled Release Fertilizers

Controlled Release Fertilizers

ICL is a world leader in controlled release fertilizers which enhance the nutrient efficiency and minimize leaching and volatilization into the environment. These products enable growers around the world to reduce fertilizer usage by 20-30% and simultaneously achieve higher quality crops and yields with a lower environmental impact. \

2.4
By 2030, ensure sustainable food production systems and implement resilient agricultural practices that increase productivity and production, that help maintain ecosystems, that strengthen capacity for adaptation to climate change, extreme weather, drought, flooding and other disasters and that progressively improve land and soil quality.
14.1
By 2025, prevent and significantly reduce marine pollution of all kinds, in particular from land-based activities, including marine debris and nutrient pollution.
15.3
By 2030, combat desertification, restore degraded land and soil, including land affected by desertification, drought and floods, and strive to achieve a land degradation-neutral world.

We leverage state-of-the-art precision plant nutrition and technologies to ensure maximum growth. But we also understand that growth must never come at the expense of the environment. That’s why our mantra is: grow more and better with less.

Controlled release fertilizers (CRF) allow an accurate release of nutrients over time. CRFs have a special coating that allows the prolonged release of nutrients. Nutrients are released over several weeks to several months ,compared to conventional fertilizers that dissolve in the soil and are only available to the plant for up to four weeks.

Controlled release fertilizers minimize leaching of nutrients to water sources and reduce volatilization. Our products also enable the soil to retain and add valuable microorganisms while reducing the presence of unfavorable microorganisms. When using controlled release fertilizers additional processes benefit as well, such as increasing the nitrogen use efficiency  of the plants. This increased efficiency also means less nitrogen is volatilized to the air as N2O, a greenhouse gas.

During the past few years, several new coating technologies have been developed such as “Double Coating Technology” and “E-Max Release Technology”. Visit our website or on LinkedIn to learn more.

12.2
By 2030, achieve the sustainable management and efficient use of natural resources.
12.4
By 2020, achieve the environmentally sound management of chemicals and all wastes throughout their life cycle, in accordance with agreed international framework and significantly reduce their release to air, water and soil in order to minimize their adverse impacts on human health and the environment.
