Stage 2: Product Development
Research and innovation are the cornerstones of our business. Developing new production processes, applications, formulations and products for our markets, including agriculture, food and engineered materials, either internally or through joint efforts with others, is vital to ICL’s continued growth. As we develop new products and refine our production processes, we ensure that sustainable criteria are considered and addressed. \
Over the years, we have developed and marketed many innovative products and solutions, accumulating expertise in the diverse areas in which we operate.
Going forward, we aim to continue expanding, balancing and strengthening our business by, among other things, growing our specialty businesses through R&D, organic initiatives, joint ventures and acquisitions. We will continue to emphasize sustainability as a key component of our R&D projects, including advances in renewable energy storage and the use of recycled raw materials as a source for fertilizers.
Sustainability Index for Product Development
In accordance with our commitment to sustainable development and our efforts to reduce the environmental impact along the value chain, we include environmental and health criteria in analyzing our products, beginning from initial product development.
These criteria form the basis of a Sustainability Index in which each proposed product is assessed and graded during the development process according to defined parameters.
Based on the results, changes are incorporated into the development process of the product. The index has been adopted and implemented in most ICL product development processes.
